It’s in the air. Talk of elections, presidential campaigns, and the process of a democratic society.
Here are some sites to engage learners in understanding how it all works.
- This is one of my favorite sites, because it allows students to put themselves in the position of the president as they make decisions about their advisors and how to balance the national budget. After making these decisions, students have to write a rational for those decisions and the final product is a mock newspaper article summary.
- The Democracy Project: This site has three interactive sections: Be President for a Day, How Does Government Affect Me?, and Step Inside the Voting Booth.
- Ready To Vote includes info on the candidates, news articles, and a teacher section with lesson plans and activities.
